A Look at ENXIN’s Tri-Axle Flatbed Semi Trailer — Straight from the Factory Yard

This blue tri-axle flatbed semi trailer rolled off our line last week. Standard configuration, nothing exotic — and that is exactly why most of our repeat buyers keep ordering it.

The frame is Q345B high-tensile steel, cut and welded in-house with submerged arc welding on the main longitudinal beams. We do not outsource the chassis — every beam from I-beam forming to full-penetration welding happens under our roof. Cross members use Q235 channel steel at 500mm spacing, punched for deck plank mounting before the frame enters the sandblasting booth (SA2.5 grade). Primer is zinc-rich epoxy; topcoat is two-component polyurethane in whatever color the buyer specifies. The blue you see here is RAL 5015.

Tri-Axle Running Gear

The trailer sits on three 13-ton FUWA axles — the most common spec for 40ft flatbed semi trailers running in Africa and Southeast Asia. Each axle carries a 420x180mm brake shoe on a dual-line pneumatic system. Customers who spec WABCO ABS get the 4S/2M configuration; most take the standard RE6 relay emergency valve with mechanical load-sensing.

Suspension is mechanical leaf spring, 10-leaf on the front axle and 9-leaf on the middle and rear — a proven setup that keeps replacement parts easy to source anywhere between Lagos and Manila. Tires are 12R22.5 on 8.25×22.5 steel rims. We ship on Chinese-brand radials (Linglong / Triangle) unless the buyer specifies a preferred brand.

Kingpin is 2-inch bolted, compatible with any standard fifth wheel. Landing gear is a two-speed mechanical set rated for 28 tons static load — enough to support the trailer fully loaded during coupling and uncoupling.

Deck and Side Protection

The loading platform measures 13,000mm x 2,500mm — the standard 40ft flatbed trailer footprint. Decking is 28mm pressure-treated hardwood, each plank bolted to the cross members with countersunk M12 fasteners. Between the planks, we leave a 10mm gap for water drainage and thermal expansion.

Side rails run 120mm channel steel along both edges, with welded stake pockets every 700mm for side stanchions and rope hooks. Front bulkhead is 1.5m high, drill-built for the air and electrical connectors you can see in the photo — standard ISO 7638 seven-pin socket on the electrics, gladhand couplers on the air lines.

The underrun protection (side guard) is not an afterthought — it is a full-length steel rail welded to the chassis outriggers, fitted with red and white reflective tape meeting ECE R104 visibility standards. Rear bumper follows ECE R58.

Why This Particular Spec Sells

We have been exporting flatbed semi trailers since 2018. The feedback loop is simple: buyers in Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana, the Philippines, and Yemen tell us what breaks first, and we fix it in the next production batch. That is how we settled on the FUWA axle + Linglong tire combination — maximum parts availability, minimum downtime.

We do not batch-build to stock. Every unit is built to order, so axle count, deck length, paint code, and accessories are configured per buyer. A 20ft flatbed trailer or a 45ft extendable flatbed follows the same frame engineering — just scaled.

Export Logistics

Trailers leave the yard in one of two ways:

  • Containerized (SKD): chassis disassembled into 3–4 sections, axles separated, packed in a 40ft HC container. About 3 units per container. Buyer assembles locally with our video guide.
  • RORO / flat-rack: fully assembled unit rolled onto a vessel. Higher freight but zero assembly.

Every shipment includes a steel-wire-bound pack of technical documents — frame weld inspection report, axle serial number trace sheet, paint adhesion test record, and a parts list with manufacturer part codes. Not glossy brochures. The kind of paperwork a fleet mechanic actually uses.

ENXIN Semi Trailer Factory

We are based in Liangshan County, Shandong Province — 30 minutes from the trailer parts wholesale market that supplies half of China’s trailer builders. That proximity means we do not stockpile components. Axles arrive on order, steel comes from Laiwu Steel and Rizhao Steel by the coil, tires come direct from the Shandong rubber belt. No warehousing cost = no markup from inventory carrying.

Current lead time for a flatbed semi trailer order is 15–25 working days depending on the customization sheet. We send a photo of the completed unit — like the one above — before crating or dispatch.
